Description

A classic album, originally recorded in 1966, by a legendary Cajun musician whose older cousin Amede is generally conceded to be the father of Zydeco. Here, the music of the younger Ardoin (the nickname translates as "dry stick") is extremely traditional; most tunes feature the absolutely bare-bones accompaniment and Ardoin's accordion and the fiddle of Canray Fontenot, although on tunes like the shambling "Ardoin Two Step" and "Jolie Catin," they also make room for some appealing trash-can drums. Another break with tradition is the walking bass line on the amusing "Le Boss," which seems to want to be Creole rockabilly. Released in February 1999, 23 tracks, including:

- Les Blues Du Voyageur
- Jolie Bassette
- Quo Faire (What to Make)
- Le Chicot A Bois Sec
- Bon Soir Moreau
- La Robe Barree (The Striped Dress)
- Tit Monde
- Valse A Canray (Canray's Waltz)
- La Valse de La Prison (The Prison Waltz)
- La Danse de La Misere (The Dance of Misery)
- La Valse d'Oberlin (The Oberlin Waltz)
- Les Haricots
- Fais Pas Ca
- Duralde Ramble
- Tit Galop
- Allez-Vous-En
- Laccassine Breakdown
- Chere Ici Chere La Bas
- Opelousas Waltz
- Petite et La Grosse
- Le Boss (Rice Farmer)
- Jupe Courte
- Jolie Catin
- Ardoin Two Step
- Home Sweet Home
